Celebrating 100 years of Sales and Service in Odebolt, IA
Celebrating our centennial milestone in 2025, Rex Chevrolet GMC--originally founded as Rex Auto Company--stands as a testament to resilience, innovation, and family legacy in the American automotive industry. Established in 1925 by Floyd W. Rex, the dealership has proudly served Odebolt, IA and surrounding communities for 100 years.
Floyd W. Rex began his automotive journey after returning from WWI (France). When he arrived home in Odebolt, he worked in the service department at Einspahr Buick Car Company. In 1922, the Rex Tire and Battery Company was founded and then Rex Auto Company in 1925.
Ronald J. Rex, Floyd's son, also served in the military. After graduating from Drake University in 1954, he entered the U.S. Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. Ron served from 1954-1958 as an Air Force Pilot. He purchased the dealership in 1958 from Floyd and moved home to Odebolt.
Mark and Pam (Rex) Hansen were both raised in Odebolt. After graduating from college, Mark was a branch manager of a local bank from 1977-1989. Mark and Pam purchased Rex Chevrolet GMC from Ron in 1989. Two of their five children, Chris and Rachel, work at the dealership.
Over the decades, the dealership evolved with changing automotive brands and ownership. It has held several franchises including Chevrolet, Dodge, DeLorean Motor Company, and GMC.
From the original Rex Auto Company to today's Mark Hansen's Rex Chevrolet GMC, this family-run business remains committed to serving its customers with integrity, innovation, and community spirit.
